| BIO: Jacques Guidry was born in Fresno, CA. to Gladys Guidry and the late Al Guidry, who both moved from down south to Fresno, California's west side. After his fathers self-inflicted death Jacques moved around with his mother seeing and learning a lot about life at a young age. It was at age eleven when Jacques started writing lyrics and poetry. Under the alias Quiksand, Jacques went on to conquer many talent shows and school yard battles as well as rock freestyle sessions at the local radio station. And later went on to record many songs and open up for various secular hip-hop acts. In his home town of Fresno, California he became a pioneer in hip-hop with a well known name and a strong buzz. But God had different plans for this young man off track in his spiritual walk. At this point, deep into the street life, Jacques had been involved in various illegal activities. It was a couple of months before the new millennium was to hit. While the world spoke of the end, Jacques indeed did come to his end. And his beginning. His 360. His revolution. And his morph began. After being in a cocoon that involved a lot of reading, church, fasting, sacrificing bad habits, studying and praying. What some would call a phenomenal, supernaturally charged emcee manifested into this earth realm. Releasing an off the radar EP entitled "Spoken Word" on his own Threatt Muzik imprint, THA GIM (the God in me) was heard. A year and some later THA GIM dropped his full length album debut, "Art Of War". Leading off with the single "Rize Up!". This release solidified his position as a revolutionary gospel emcee, opened several doors and enabled him to travel nation wide performing. From hip hop clubs to concerts, from churches to music festivals, THA GIM went on to gather fans from all walks of life. And now he's following up with his most powerful work to date as a whole, Antidote 4 Destruction. If "gospel hip hop" has ever been put into a box, this guy just exploded it. No matter who you are or what you do, no matter what you believe or where you live. If you like or love hip hop music and have at least a drop of faith, you'll feel THA GIM. With his anointed unique rhyme style and skills along with an electric stage presence, you begin to realize that this mans God given vision is bigger than any category of hip hop. And walls will be torn down through his style and sound. Igniting an evolution and a revolution in hip hop as the world knows it. THA GIM, a modest yet confident emcee, represents the spirit of hip hop, a God inspired art form birthed to bring about change. Though it's sometimes hard to realize that in today's hip hop society. Influences? A list of architect grade A lyricist along with Fredd Hammond who's music has inspired THA GIM spiritually since his renewing. This Fresno vet is focused. And he see's his position. A position that nobody but THA GIM and his music can occupy in hip hop, period. And Jacques is now walking in what was already written and predestined for his life and career. Just listening to the lyrics and feeling the passion in this emcee's delivery you get a feeling like something not of this world is spittin' out of this human beings heart and mouth. From school yard freestyling, to underground pioneer and entrepreneur, into the rebirth and anointing of a spiritual, lyrical weapon for the good of music, hearts and minds. |
