LADELL MCLIN - has been described as an artist who possesses the ability to transcend the bounds of conventional music through his muse, the blues. Born on the South Side of Chicago, a notable center for the blues, Ladell discovered the music that would be profoundly influential in his life. He then worked to hone his seemingly natural talents on the guitar.
Nurtured by his musical familys close ties to Chicagos most notable and historic creators of the blues, Ladell began playing at Buddy Guys famed nightclub, Legends, with musicians such as John Primer, and Eddie Burks. He brought her to the first studio she ever recorded in at the age of 9 where she knocked his socks off with her rendition of James Taylors Dont Let Me Be Lonely Tonight. She is currently living in Nashville writing with Shane Stevens (whose song went #1 for Lady Antebellum American Honey), Cary Barlowe (Grammy nominated songwriter who co-wrote American Honey), James Moore and many others in order to grow and hone her skills as a songwriter.
Pharaoh's Daughter travels effortlessly through continents, key signatures, and languages with a genre-bending sound, which is far far away from the autotune-drenched pop puring over the Billboard charts. Basya Schechters earthy, soulful beautiful voice rings out over the oud, saz,, keys, neys and strings that all blend together to form a vibrant artistic vision of a new Middle East. The familiar echoes of the Mediterranean are mixed in with flashes of Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic chants. Neo-chasidic stories from Basya Schechter's childhood meld with six intuitive passionate musicians who create an orchestrated, yet spontaneous modern psychedelic world experience, Jam band, but composed, with a sound cultivated after a series of trips to the Middle East, Africa, Israel, Egypt, Central Africa, Turkey, Kurdistan and Greece, after which she began retuning her guitar to sound like a cross between an Arabic oud and a Turkish saz.
In recent years, Pharaohs' Daughter played Central Park's Summerstage, and in the past has toured extensively through America, Israel, Eastern and Western Europe, as well as Greece, South America, and the UK. They have also performed on such prestigious stages as Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park, Mass Moca, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, National Geographic, Symphony Space, and in festivals like Sephardic Music Festival, Yiddishfest, Jewsapalooza, Ashkenaz, Festival of Colors, the Krakow Jewish Music Festival, Lincoln Center's Out of Doors concerts.. and Berkelee Jewish Music Festivals.
